Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The Property Services team provides a leading-edge planning and development consultancy that contributes to the University of Auckland's success by providing high-quality physical environments. We build and service some of the country's largest and most complex buildings and construction projects.
As the Campus Services Cleaning Manager, you will oversee and coordinate all cleaning and waste management activities across our diverse and dynamic campus. You’ll lead the strategic delivery of high-quality, sustainable, and efficient cleaning services that support the University’s vision, values, and Net Zero Carbon commitments.
You will:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to cleaning contractors and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Drive innovation in cleaning technologies and sustainable practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the University to deliver exceptional service.
- Monitor performance through audits, KPIs, and contractor engagement (PACE reviews).
- Support emergency response planning and readiness.
This is a high-impact role where your leadership will directly contribute to the wellbeing of our students, staff, and visitors, and to the University’s operational excellence.
This is a fulltime, permanent role. Salary range is $97,000 - $109,000pa plus benefits.

About you | He kōrero mōu
You are a seasoned commercial cleaning professional with a proven track record in managing large-scale contracts and leading teams in complex environments. You bring strategic thinking, operational expertise, and a commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement.
You will also have:
- Strong leadership and contractor management experience.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A deep understanding of health and safety compliance and risk management.
- Experience implementing sustainable cleaning and waste management practices.
- Familiarity with NZ legislation and industry best practices.
- The ability to identify and embed innovative technologies and solutions.
- A collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving and service delivery.
Preferred qualifications include:
- NZQA Level 6 Diploma or equivalent experience.
- City & Guilds or NZ Certificate in Cleaning (Level 3 or higher).
- CIMS (Coordinated Incident Management System) certification.
- First Aid and Health & Safety certifications
- Green Cleaning accreditation
- NZ Level 3 Certificate in Cleaning
- NZ Level 3 Certificate in Cleaning Supervision Strands
- NZ Level 3 Certificate in Cleaning Specialist Strands
- ISSA Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS)
- ISSA CIMS certified Expert
- ISSA Standards for Proper Cleaning
