Casual Venue Technician
Love live events? Got some experience with sound, lighting or AV? Want flexible work that fits around uni life? Join our casual tech team at the UCSA, the student heart of UC.
We’re on the lookout for reliable, capable technicians to help deliver everything from live gigs and DJ nights to conferences, expos, and theatre shows. You’ll work alongside our full-time tech staff to:
- Set up and run audio, lighting and video systems
- Support visiting artists and clients
- Operate Q-SYS and streaming gear across the venue
- Help with pack-ins, pack-outs and general event logistics
- Solve basic tech issues and help maintain gear
You’ll need:
- Hands-on experience with live event tech (school, study or work)
- A flexible attitude and solid teamwork skills
- The ability to lift gear and get stuck in
- To be legally allowed to work in NZ
Shifts are casual and variable – great if you’re after work that fits around your schedule. Whether you're a student looking to build skills, or someone already in the industry wanting extra gigs, we’d love to hear from you.

Established in 1894, the UCSA is a registered not-for-profit organisation that supports UC students to succeed and belong.
Our organisation is governed by an elected Student Executive, and we employ over 300 staff. Together, we dish up a range of student-focused services, including: advocacy and welfare, representation, subsidised dental and optometry, early learning centres, club support, events, and media.
