About the Role
As a Clinical Coach for the Health Care Assistant (HCA) Programme, you will work alongside nurses to enhance the clinical skills and knowledge of Health Care Assistants. This role will see you work closely with Nurses, Nursing Leads, and Educators to provide tailored clinical education and coaching. You will support individual learning needs and help create a strong, skilled team delivering excellent care to our communities.
This is a permanent full time role working 40 hours per week between Mondays and Fridays. The role is primarily based at Whangarei Hospital but support to Te Tai Tokerau rural hospitals is an important part of the job. A vehicle will be provided, so the successful candidate must hold a New Zealand driver’s license.

About the Team/Service/Location
The Nursing Directorate provides leadership, advice and support to the Nursing staff of Te Tai Tokerau. The Directorate supports staff across the Northern region ensuring they are offered ongoing professional development, education and courses as required.

About you
As a Clinical Coach, you will need to have strong verbal and written communication skills in English, be well-organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively, and demonstrate flexibility to adapt to the evolving demands of the role.
- NZ Certificate Health & Wellbeing – Level 3 or above
- Full NZ Driver’s Licence
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a healthcare setting
- Proficient computer skills
- A commitment to biculturalism and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
The successful candidate will need to be able to meet the physical demands of the role and have a personal commitment to ongoing learning and development. Previous Clinical Coaching and/or mentoring experience is preferred, however not essential to apply.
