Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Role

Pharmac is looking for a Clinical Lead to provide guidance and leadership in the cancer treatments space. Working in a small team and reporting to the Manager of Expert Advisory in the Advice and Assessment Directorate, you will use your clinical expertise to advise on medicines funding as well as communicating and implementing decisions. This is a full-time role based in Wellington. Part-time and other locations may be considered for the right candidate.

Your duties and responsibilities include:

  • Building networks and relationships internally and across the health sector
  • Use your knowledge, experience and expertise to provide senior clinical leadership and advice to Pharmac staff and decision makers
  • Represent Pharmac's perspective, processes and decisions externally

  • A registered healthcare practitioner who is currently practicing. (Pharmac will provide support to ensure you are able to retain your current practicing certificate.)
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of cancer treatments and cancer care in the New Zealand Health Sector
  • Ability to successfully lead, manage and influence in a clinical leadership role
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Experience in the appraisal of evidence as part of decision making
  • Ability to critique evidence and interpret data to support health technology assessment of cancer treatments and other medicines
  • Ability to assimilate complex and often competing ideas logically and articulate these clearly, concisely and coherently
