We’re seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Stonemason to operate CNC machinery and fabricate high-quality stone and engineered stone benchtops. You’ll transform raw slabs into precision-finished products using advanced technology and meticulous hand-finishing techniques.
Key Responsibilities
1. Machine Operation:
Read architecture design and set up, program, and operate CNC routers, saws, and edge polishers for cutting, shaping, and profiling benchtops.
Perform daily machine maintenance and troubleshoot minor technical issues.
2. Fabrication & Finishing:
Handle, lift, and maneuver stone slabs (natural & engineered) using overhead cranes/booms.
Cut, laminate, polish, and hone benchtops to exact specifications.
Install sink cutouts, tap holes, and edge details with precision.
Conduct quality checks at every stage of production.
3. Workshop Safety:
Strictly adhere to Worksafe NZ regulations, especially silica dust control (RPE, LEV, wet processing).
Follow protocols for safe slab handling and machinery operation.
4. Team Collaboration:
Work with designers, project managers, and installers to meet deadlines.
Maintain a clean, organized workshop
Essential:
At least 2 years relevant experience in construction or machinery or a level 4 or above relevant qualification
Proven ability to fabricate natural stone (granite, marble) and engineered stone (Caesarstone, Silestone).
Physical fitness (lifting 20-30kg slabs, standing for extended periods).
Strong understanding of workshop safety, especially silica management.
Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools (calipers, templates).

Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 60 per week
