About the Role
The Community Integration Advisor plays a key role in working alongside communities, Iwi Māori Partnership Boards (IMPBs), and the wider health and social sector to build strong, collaborative partnership and leadership arrangements. This role acts as a strategic and pragmatic change enabler, supporting joined-up ways of working across the system in line with the intent of the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022. A core focus is to support and enable mana whenua to actively participate in decision-making structures, while also fostering high-trust relationships and flexible, adaptive ways of working across hapū, iwi, cross-agency groups, local government, and provider networks.
The Community Integration Advisor will support system change at both local and regional levels. They will have a strong foundation in community development, relationship building, and champion collective impact to strengthen health and social outcomes for communities. By facilitating enablers such as commissioning capacity and capability, the role ensures partnerships are well-supported and guided by a shared vision, co-design, shared accountability, and continuous improvement.
The position also requires careful risk management, the development and maintenance of clear project plans, and regular, accurate communication with stakeholders. Your approach that draws on local knowledge and engages with community and provider networks to influence service planning and delivery, ensuring health and social services reflect local needs and improve hauora and wellbeing outcomes across communities.
About the Service
There is a team based locally in Te Tauihu, is part of a regional team, with links to national teams. The role partners closely with clinical teams and community partners, with a focus on working across the system to support integrated models of care and joined-up ways of working.
About you
As a Community Integration Advisor, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification and have some experience in working within a health system. The successful person must live in the Nelson Marlborough region and work actively in a clinical setting outside of this role.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Hands-on experience in place-based planning and collective impact approaches
- A proven ability to build, maintain, and influence relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations, including strong engagement with Māori and Pacific peoples and groups
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to translate complex ideas into clear and compelling messages for a wide range of audiences, from community members to senior leaders, Boards, and Ministers
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to bring people together around shared goals
- A track record of building strong, trusted relationships both inside and outside of organisations
- Experience working in regulated environments and navigating complexity, with the ability to work constructively across functions and maintain the confidence of stakeholders
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to thrive in self-directed teams as well as contribute to larger collective efforts
