Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
Utilising your previous Team Leadership and Counselling experience, your main responsibility will be managing our Brief Intervention Counselling Team - you will also provide counselling services within the team. You will ensure the provision of prompt counselling services for students, aiming to enhance student success. You will ensure the service operates within evidence-based professional guidelines and adheres to established ethical standards. You will ensure seamless referral to internal and external health professional colleagues where clients' needs cannot be met within our Brief Intervention framework. You will promote awareness of counselling services to students and the wider UC Community, participate in the development of delivery initiatives, and may be asked to deliver educational workshops.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will have a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific pertinent subject area, e.g. Counselling, Social Work, Psychology. You will be a full member of an appropriate and relevant professional organisation e.g. NZ Association of Counsellors or NZ Social Workers Registration Board.
You will also have:
- Experience in leading a team to ensure efficient delivery of counselling services.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a consultative and team environment
- An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations pertaining to Health and Privacy
- Excellent record keeping and report writing skills
- Competence using MS Office and ideally, MedTech Evolution.
Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With
The Counselling Team provides counselling services to the UC student community, enhancing the identity and wellbeing of that Community. You will work alongside other UC Health Centre staff, including doctors, nurses, HCA, HIP, Health Coach, plus the Practice Manager and reception/admin team.
