About the role

North Community Mental Health Team provide assessment, support and treatment for people experiencing moderate to severe mental illness. The geographic area serviced by the team includes Mosgiel, Middlemarch, Palmerston and Dunedin city from the Octagon northwards.

This role will:

  • conduct predominantly as a crisis clinician and a Duly Authorised Officer under the Mental Health Act
  • collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, registered nurses and social workers
  • manage a broad-based generic caseload, utilising your mental health experience
  • commit to the MDT approach with a focus on excellent service delivery
  • manage cases across the adult age range, assessing, maintaining and managing clinical risk
  • build relationships with consumers, family/whānau and support agencies.

About You

Our ideal candidate will:

  • be a New Zealand registered nurse, with current APC
  • have proven community and/or recent mental health acute inpatient experience
  • hold a strong sense of 'self', a positive 'can-do' attitude and a commitment to working cohesively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • demonstrate a commitment to best practice standards and your model of practice will be inclusive of the seven Real Skills of Let's get real (www.tepou.co.nz)
  • hold a full NZ driver's licence
  • be a Duly Authorised Officer.
