We are seeking a Stations Operations Specialist Lead to play a key role in the development and delivery of new and upgraded train stations as part of the City Rail Link (CRL). This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of New Zealand's most significant public transport transformation, working closely with key internal stakeholders and external partners. You'll report to the CRL Testing & Commissioning Manager and lead a highly capable team. This is a fixed term role through to June 2026.
Requirements
What you'll be doing:
- Lead the development and review of key station operational documentation including procedures, emergency plans, and safe work instructions—ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Support station operational readiness planning, testing, and commissioning activities across major rail infrastructure upgrades.
- Collaborate with operations teams to mitigate testing disruptions and ensure seamless delivery of timetable changes.
- Coordinate input into station design, integration, and safety testing across Britomart and new CRL stations.
- Drive operational testing, planning for special events, degraded modes, and emergency responses.
- Liaise with the Customer Experience team to ensure smooth delivery of services at new or redeveloped stations.
- Undertake Tester in Charge responsibilities during testing to manage interface coordination with CRL stakeholders and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Oversee resources, training, and competency development of AOR station staff to support the CRL Delivery team. This includes consulting with union representatives/delegates with the support of the P&C team.
What you'll bring:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in rail operations, preferably with a focus on infrastructure changes and operational readiness planning.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage direct and cross-functional teams in a complex, dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Project and general Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of building and rail safety systems, operational procedures and stakeholder management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Competent in adult training and assessment
