My language is my awakening; my language is the window to my soul.

Are you a passionate and experienced Kaiako looking for an opportunity to inspire happy, healthy, and confident young minds? Join our vibrant team at Ngā Tamariki Pūāwai o Tāmaki |Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) and make a difference in the lives of tamariki, whānau, and your local hapori.

About Ngā Tamariki Pūāwai o Tāmaki - AKA

Since 1908, AKA has been a cornerstone of Early Childhood Education in Aotearoa. With 112 kindergartens and KiNZ centres and a dedicated support service, we provide safe, enriching, and multicultural environments where tamariki thrive.

Guided by Te Whāriki, we empower tamariki to develop as confident, competent learners while working in partnership with their whānau. Our Auckland-wide network of kindergartens ensures tamariki receive the best start for school and beyond, building the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

About Onehunga Kindergarten

Onehunga Kindergarten is known for its spacious outdoor playground, perfect for encouraging tamariki to explore, create, and imagine. Our team values whānau involvement, working closely with families to achieve the best learning outcomes for every child.

The team includes a Head Kaiako, three qualified and kaiako, and support staff who are dedicated to fostering a tamariki-centred, play-based learning programme informed by Te Whāriki. We are committed to nurturing tamariki sense of belonging within their hapori of Onehunga and Te Papapa.

  • Work collaboratively with a supportive, fun-loving team.
  • Deliver high-quality, inclusive education to tamariki and their whānau.
  • Embrace and lead bicultural practices aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

What We are Looking For

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Be an enthusiastic, flexible team player with a sense of fun.
  • Embody a play-based learning philosophy and view tamariki as capable, competent individuals.
  • Build strong, meaningful relationships with tamariki, whānau, and the hapori.
  • Be confident in ICT use to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrate strong planning, assessment, and documentation skills.
  • Incorporate sustainability and a love for nature into teaching practices.
  • Value diversity and foster inclusiveness in all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Enjoy hands-on learning and nurturing curiosity through play.
  • Holds a current first aide certificate.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a team passionate about shaping confident, capable young learners.
  • Work in a supportive, community-oriented environment.
  • Enjoy the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while growing professionally.
