The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to join our Urology team as the Urology Elective Nurse Coordinator. This is a pivotal role where you will lead the coordination of care for patients requiring elective urological surgery, ensuring a smooth, safe, and patient-focused journey from referral through to surgery.
The Elective Nurse Coordinators primary role is to proactively coordinate the journey of people requiring elective surgery and manage the surgical waitlist and all resources required to deliver elective surgery within Counties Manukau and through outsourcing contracting and Ministry of Health requirements.
As the Elective Nurse Coordinator, you will:
- Manage and coordinate the elective urology surgical waiting list in line with Ministry of Health requirements.
- Case-manage patients through the pre-operative process, ensuring they are optimally prepared for surgery.
- Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and administrative teams across primary, secondary, and tertiary services.
- Actively contribute to theatre scheduling and maximise theatre utilisation.
- Provide advanced clinical knowledge, assessment, and leadership within the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain strong communication with patients, whaanau, and external providers, ensuring they are well-informed throughout their journey.
- Uphold patient safety, clinical quality, and equity of access to care.
This role requires strong clinical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to problem-solve in a dynamic environment.

About You:
- NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- 4+ years surgical nursing experience in NZ (post registration)
- Relevant post graduate qualification
- Excellent communication skills
