The Opportunity
We are looking for Emergency Management Team Leader - Group Office to join our team on a full-time permanent basis (37.5 hours per week) in our busy Dunedin, Taieri, Balclutha, Oamaru or Palmerston office.
The purpose of this position is to provide day to day leadership of the Emergency Management Otago Advisors based in the Group Office, working closely with the Otago Regional Council and partner organisations to ensure an integrated and effective approach to emergency management. The role requires a balance of strategic oversight, policy leadership, and operational readiness, while also contributing to wider organisational initiatives that strengthen the resilience of the CDEM group.
As an Emergency Management Team Leader - Group Office, you will be responsible for:
- Coaching, mentoring, supporting enabling staff to achieve agreed outcomes, and grow and develop in their roles
- In partnership with the Group Manager, leading the delivery of the review of the Group Plan
- Contributing the local CDEM strategies, plans and implementation as appropriate
- Leading the development of consistent community alerting and warning systems
- Developing policies to ensure effective access to community infrastructure for response purposes and in particular welfare response capability

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A tertiary qualification in emergency management/development, organisational management, planning and development or community development
- Experience within the CDEM sector or community development or related field
- At least seven years' experience in emergency response or within in a CIMS structure
- Ability to communicate information in a way that increases and builds positive relationships and trust with key partners and communities
- Demonstrated competent decision-making skills in emergency situations
