Job Description
AFFCO Rangiuru, (based south of Te Puke, Bay of Plenty) is currently seeking a passionate Plant Engineering Manager to lead their Trades team and contractors over both shifts.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of plant maintenance, reliability, and asset management, familiarity with general services systems such as refrigeration, steam, water, and air, and excellent communication, planning, and leadership skills.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Plant Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring that plant assets are managed and maintained in a way that enhances the company’s short- and long-term objectives. This role is pivotal in the ongoing operation of the site and is a career opportunity not to be missed.
Key attributes we will be looking for include:
- Ability to further develop the team culture that currently exists within the maintenance department.
- Maintaining a strong focus on cost and resource management and have the ability to prioritise expenditure decisions.
- Provide strong leadership to an existing, well-skilled trades team.
- Ensure that production departments experience minimal down time due to engineering/maintenance requirements.
- Strong organisational skills which complement the need to manage a variety of priorities and demands.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with complementary skills in planning and good judgement.
- Appropriate qualifications and/or experience in the engineering field.
- A commitment to upholding the company’s high standards of health and safety.
- Competent in building strong relationships across various disciplines.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of communication skills both oral and written.
Knowledge of Health & Safety will be a big advantage along with permit to work, Induction, confined space and heights training. Experience with environmental compliance and council liaison is also advantageous.
Qualifications
The successful applicants will demonstrate the following:
- Holds an Engineering degree or other relevant tertiary qualification.
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with all key stakeholders including the Trades team, operations team and external consultants, contractors and suppliers on a regular basis.
- Exposure to Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Effluent and Wastewater Management, and Refrigeration Systems.
- Experience with Maintenance Planning Tools (e.g. CMMS systems like MEX, SAP PM).
- A sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation (e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act 2015).
