Following a recent organisational redesign, we've strengthened our capability to respond to environmental challenges, and now we're looking for an experienced Environmental Monitoring Specialist to help us drive innovation in environmental data collection and systems.

About the role

The Environmental Monitoring Specialist contributes to the overall performance of the Environmental Monitoring Team by leading the development of technology used in the collection and processing of environmental monitoring data. You will be responsible for overseeing telemetry systems management and will assist the Environmental Monitoring team in data collection.

This role focuses on

  • Assisting in the implementation of scientific monitoring and investigations;
  • Driving innovation in environmental data collection methods and monitoring technology;
  • Supporting continuous improvement and effective operation of environmental data collection; and,
  • Participating in the 24-hour Flood Warning Service.

What you'll bring

  • A relevant bachelor's degree (environmental science, tech, engineering or similar)
  • 3+ years' experience in environmental monitoring
  • Knowledge of NEMS, telemetry systems, and environmental monitoring tools (e.g., Hilltop, Aquarius, Hydstra)
  • Strong skills in data management, GIS, and geospatial systems
  • A mindset for continuous improvement and innovation

An initial offer of remuneration will be made within the range $88,290 - $93,195.
