Job Description

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role

This is a full-time permanent role, and can be based at any of our Elite campuses. We are open to candidates based in Auckland, Wellington or Hamilton.

Elite School of Beauty and Spa is seeking an experienced and visionary Faculty Leader to provide academic and professional leadership across our suite of beauty programmes.

This national role is responsible for ensuring programme quality, consistency, and compliance, while driving innovation in curriculum design and delivery. The FL has complete responsibility for the programme being delivered to teaching teams. Programmes have to be fit for purpose and fit for delivery. You will lead the academic direction of Elite - New Zealand’s leading specialist beauty education brand within Yoobee Colleges - ensuring our graduates are workforce-ready and that our programmes remain aligned with NZQA requirements, industry standards, and emerging trends.

As Faculty Leader, you’ll shape the future of beauty education by embedding sustainability, digital advancements, and contemporary industry practices into programme development. You’ll also foster strong relationships with employers, professional associations, and Māori and Pasifika communities to ensure cultural inclusivity and industry relevance.

This role requires a highly experienced Beauty Therapist with both industry and academic credibility, who can balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide academic and professional industry led leadership across Elite beauty programmes.
  • Work alongside the Quality Assurance team to ensure programmes are fit-for-purpose, compliant, and aligned with NZQA and industry standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Elite vision, goals, and curriculum innovation.
  • Oversee lesson plans, assessments, delivery materials and engage in tutor observations to support teaching teams.
  • Promote student success and graduate employability by aligning training with industry needs.
  • Support staff recruitment, mentoring, and professional development, fostering a high-performing academic team.
  • Build strong partnerships with industry leaders, employers, and professional associations.
  • Engage with Māori and Pasifika communities to embed cultural inclusivity in programme delivery.
  • Lead compliance, audits, and quality assurance processes to uphold academic standards.
  • Monitor programme performance against KPIs, including retention, graduate outcomes, and employer feedback.

Qualifications

Ko wai koe | About you

You will be an accomplished academic leader with deep knowledge of the beauty sector, with both industry and academic credibility. You’ll have the ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution, and a proven track record of leading academic programmes or faculties to deliver excellence.

With your strong background in the beauty industry, you will be confident in shaping curriculum direction, ensuring compliance, and building high-performing teams — while also engaging externally with industry, employers, and communities to keep Elite’s programmes at the forefront of the beauty sector. Most importantly, you are committed to student success, cultural inclusivity, and preparing graduates to be workforce ready.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Recognised beauty therapy qualification and experience in beauty education.
  • A tertiary teaching qualification (preferred).
  • Demonstrated academic and professional leadership experience, ideally at a faculty or programme level.
  • Strong knowledge of beauty services regulations, health and safety requirements, and industry standards.
  • Proven experience in faculty or staff management, including mentoring, professional development, and building a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Ability to embed industry trends, digital advancements, and sustainability into curriculum design and delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build relationships with employers, professional associations, and community groups.
  • Experience in fostering equity and cultural inclusivity, with a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and engagement with Māori and Pasifika communities.
  • Excellent leadership, driving performance, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance big-picture thinking with operational execution.
