The ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years of experience in a supermarket, where you have lead a team and managed a Fresh Food department as well as Dry Goods knowledge, with a proven track record of achieving targets and leading a team, with the ultimately aspiration to be an owner of your own store.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Fresh Foods Manager, you will plan, lead and communicate within our fresh departments (Produce, Butchery, Seafood, Deli and Bakery) to achieve highest possible standards of service, product range and quality. You will also be responsible for:

• Proactively keep up with up-to-date trends and implement new products by working alongside the department managers to provide inspiring solutions to our customers.
• Ensure highest presentation standards across all departments to achieve an easy shopping experience for all customers.
• Working along-side fresh managers and assisting them to ensure maintenance of sales targets, wage budgets and other key performance targets including GP.
• Ensure costs are kept within the parameters set out by Owner Operator. Achieve cost goals through monitoring department systems in an effective and timely manner which includes but not limited to negative stock and out-of-stock reporting.
• Ensure Foodstuffs New World promotional and pricing programmes are adopted so that the store presents a competitive and brand consistent offer to the market at all times.
• Ensure stocktakes are carried out accurately across all fresh departments.
• Effectively resolve all customer related enquiries and complaints.
• Assist in recruitment of senior department team members if required. Involved in the recruitment of assigned Department Managers and training them as required.
• Complete performance management discussions with all Fresh Department Managers and work with the Owner/Operator and HR on succession planning for all key roles within the Fresh departments
• Monitoring rosters and leave balances to manage adequate staffing levels are maintained at all times.
• Support the department in complying with our food control plan and health and safety programme
• Contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the store through input to the senior team and active participation and support of department and store wide initiatives

• Experience running a Fresh Foods department with a proven success record
• Leadership background and ability to work with multiple stakeholders
• Project manage implementation of new products/processes from start to finish
• Intermediate SAP knowledge
• Intermediate math skills and ability to work with percentages
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels
• Hold a clean driver’s license
• Right to work In New Zealand
