This will include supporting complex issues and working with the team in delivering projects and work initiatives.
This is an Auckland based hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly. Anchor days in the office are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

What are 5 day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete?
- Lead Development Efforts: Design and build robust, scalable solutions, often working on complex or high-impact components.
- Shape Technical Direction: Influence architectural decisions, patterns, and long-term technical strategies.
- Mentor and Support: Coach junior and intermediate developers, providing guidance through code reviews, pair programming, and feedback.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Champion practices that improve reliability, performance, and deployment efficiency.
- Provide Production Support: Lead by example in participating in the product support and on-call roster, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and root causes are addressed.
- Maintain Technical Documentation: Ensure system-level and architectural documentation is accurate, up to date, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
- Foster Innovation: Identify opportunities for technical or process improvement and help lead their implementation.

What technical skills / skills are REQUIRED for this role?
- Understanding RESTful API principals
- Experience with the Springboot framework
- Experience using API gateway and proxies (eg: Kong)
- Proficient in at least one programming language eg: Java, Python etc.
- Experience working with SQL Server & PostgreSQL databases
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or similar
- Understanding and experience using cloud technologies (eg: AWS, Azure etc) is highly desirable

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams is essential. You will have the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities. Alongside your strong problem-solving skills, you will have a proactive approach to addressing challenges and a passion for delivering high quality solutions to colleagues.
