About the Role
The Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology plays a vital role, working collaboratively with the team to provide effective, high-quality leadership across all areas of service delivery. The HOD works in partnership with the organisation, Business Leader and Medical Leader of O&G to support the development and progression of the service. The key aims are to ensure access to high quality specialist care, alongside supporting the Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty goals of reducing health disparity and improving outcomes for Māori.
This role provides direct leadership, coaching and support to colleagues within the service, and participates in recruitment, professional reviews, and practice development. There is a pressing need to ensure that the development of O&G services both align with organisational goals and values and meet the needs of a diverse and rapidly growing population across the Bay of Plenty.
The successful applicant will have 0.1FTE of their current FTE allocated to the leadership responsibilities, along with an annual allowance/stipend. This leadership role is a three-year tenure.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our team consists of 5 obstetrician gynaecologists and a resident medical officer. We provide generalist obstetrics and gynaecology services to the population of Eastern Bay of Plenty.

About you
Critical requirements:
- Vocational registration FRANZCG or equivalent
As a respected Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist with a minimum of 5 years experience , you will have proven attributes of a team player and be passionate about the wellbeing of our people and patients. You will be able to demonstrate your leadership qualities when working alongside and supporting your colleagues.
This role is about supporting and empowering individuals to develop their skills and overseeing service delivery, to achieve organisational outcomes within budgeted resources..
