The Role & Team

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary retail leader to join Specsavers as Head of Stores – New Zealand. In this pivotal role, you will help shape and execute the strategic direction of our Optics and Audiology businesses, support driving sustainable growth, strengthening market share, and enabling long-term success for our Partners.

Working in close partnership with the Director of Stores – New Zealand, you will take a leading role in delivering the country’s business objectives and advancing our annual plans. You will inspire and develop a high-performing team of Regional Training Managers, ensuring they have the capability and confidence to support our Partners while building a strong pipeline of future leaders. At the same time, you will provide senior operational leadership, embedding best practice, and identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, profitability, and competitive advantage across the country.

As a trusted advisor, you will work alongside Partners, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and execution of our strategic priorities. Your ability to influence, innovate, and lead with impact will be critical in shaping the next phase of our growth.

The skills we are looking for:

  • Extensive experience in a similar retail operations role within a national or global organisation
  • Strong relationship builder with proven experience working with franchisees and senior leaders
  • Confident coach and inspiring leader with a track record of driving performance
  • Commercially minded with expertise in competitor analysis, sales growth, cost management, and strategic business planning
  • Skilled in delivering successful change initiatives and resolving issues quickly
  • Excellent communicator, able to engage and present effectively across diverse forums
  • Flexible to travel regionally and internationally as required
