POSITION SUMMARY
Kitchen Support Experts play an important role in support of several hotel functions. These associates may work across departments (e.g., kitchen, food and beverage, employee dining room) to support cleaning and basic kitchen preparation needs. Whether preparing fresh clean linen and spotless dining ware for guests to enjoy, operating and maintaining cleaning equipment and tools (e.g., dishwashing machines, hand wash stations), or transporting dishware across the hotel, these associates do whatever it takes to get the job done. Below are some of the main responsibilities of the role.
- Maintain Personal Hygiene & Food Safety – Follow company hygiene policies, use protective gear, disinfect hands, and wear appropriate footwear when handling food.
- Report Issues Promptly – Notify management or maintenance immediately about any equipment or facility problems.
- Manage Deliveries & Storage – Receive deliveries, store perishables and dry goods correctly, and follow stock rotation procedures.
- Assist with Food Preparation – Wash salads, trim vegetables, prep raw ingredients, and assist chefs as instructed.
- Support Buffet & Event Service – Refill buffet items, maintain presentation cleanliness, and serve food during events.
- Operate & Maintain Dishwashing Equipment – Clean, unclog, and troubleshoot dishwashing machines; ensure proper detergent use and water safety standards.
- Clean & Inspect Tableware – Sort, wash, sanitize, inspect, and polish silverware, plates, and glassware, re-washing as needed.
- Maintain Organization & Storage – Keep kitchen tools, equipment, and OS&E storerooms clean, tidy, and correctly organized.
- Perform Cleaning & Sanitation Tasks – Mop floors, wash surfaces, clean trash areas, and follow pest control guidelines.
- Dispose & Recycle Waste Properly – Separate garbage, sanitize bins, and sort recyclables per hotel and location policies.
Safety and Security
- Report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.
- Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
- Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
- Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, blood borne pathogens, etc., including using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)and local Training requirements & Guidance.
- Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security/safety personnel.
- Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
- Complete appropriate safety training and certifications to perform work tasks
