We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Supervisor to join our Central Testing Services team based in Alexandra. As a Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for the workflow of the aggregates, soils, concrete and asphalt testing areas, ensuring the laboratory staff assigned to your area are efficiently utilized, trained and developed. Ensuring all client needs are met and results are delivered in a timely manner is a large part of this role. You will also apportion time, to further support the laboratory team by actively carrying out laboratory testing.
In addition to the above you will:
- Be responsible for ensuring that all equipment and operations are utilised or conducted in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.
- Undertake the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, working cooperatively with the Field and Administration Supervisors, as needed to ensure all work is completed to the required standards.
- Ensure all lab-based testing is completed in a safe manner and in line with Fulton Hogan policies and procedures.
- Gain an understanding of the laboratory financial reporting requirements to ensure all work and reporting is completed and delivered in a timely manner.

We’re looking for someone with:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a civil engineering laboratory.
- Tertiary or trade qualification or similar.
- Excellent communication skills – build strong relationships based on honesty, delivering on promises in a positive and friendly style with the laboratory team, internal and external clients, suppliers, service providers, subcontractors and compliance organisations such as IANZ, MOH, Worksafe and ORC.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office suite particularly Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize own workload.
