About SMEVentures

SMEVentures is the leading platform for search funds and entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA) in Asia Pacific. We empower the growth and sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by bridging the gap between retiring business owners and the next generation of entrepreneurial talent. Our approach honours the legacy of SMEs while injecting innovative strategies for future growth and success.

About WF and TWS Energy Controls

WF and TWS Energy Controls are a leading manufacturer of electrical equipment, specialising in electrical products and related solutions that play a critical role in the electrification and energy transition of the Australian and New Zealand markets. As demand for sustainable and reliable energy infrastructure continues to grow, we are expanding our laboratory capabilities to drive our high standards of product performance and compliance.

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support our in-house testing and calibration of current transformers, voltage transformers, and related metering equipment. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, safety, and accuracy of our products before they reach our customers.

As part of our growing operations, you will work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to conduct high-voltage and accuracy testing, maintain calibration systems, and support continuous improvement in our testing processes. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a business at the forefront of energy infrastructure, with scope to grow into more senior technical or operational roles as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and type testing of instrument transformers (CTs, VTs, and metering units) in accordance with internal procedures and relevant standards
  • Operate and maintain high-voltage test equipment and high-current test stations for instrument transformer validation
  • Assist in calibration activities and ensure test instruments are within certification validity
  • Record and analyse test results, flag anomalies, and support failure investigations
  • Support product quality assurance by contributing to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and laboratory procedures
  • Assist with the development of new testing methods and procedures as product ranges evolve
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification or trade certificate in electrical engineering, electrotechnology, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience working in a high-voltage lab or electrical testing environment is preferred but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely
  • Comfortable working with high-voltage equipment and prioritising safety at all times
  • Proficient with basic computer systems (Excel, test software, etc.) and able to learn new systems quickly
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and eager to learn and grow with the business

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package with performance-based bonuses.
  • Opportunity to play a pivotal role in the energy transition movement.
  • Career progression as the company scales.
  • A dynamic and innovative team driving the future of electrical infrastructure.

If you're a technician or engineer passionate about shaping the future of electrification and energy distribution, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and be part of a company with big ambitions in a rapidly growing industry!
