The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative library professional with a passion for working with the public to join our team as a Lending Services Supervisor. This is a part time position for the evening and weekend shifts.
Do you have outstanding leadership and customer services skills? Supervisors in Lending Services are responsible for the day to day running of the section and other City Library sections on evenings and weekends. This includes assisting customers in their use of the library, supervising and training staff and dealing with any emergency situations that may occur.
Other duties include working on information desks, issuing, and returning library materials, registering new members, and cash receipting.
Ideally you will have
- Previous experience in public libraries
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative and take responsibility for tasks through to completion
- Considerable knowledge of information and reference enquiry work and technology
- Experience in supervising staff
in addition to the above you will be highly motivated and have excellent interpersonal skills to motivate your team in providing excellent customer service. Working with the public is rewarding but can at times be challenging, therefore applicants must be proactive and confident to address customer behaviour which can occur in a public service environment. A commitment to on- going learning and training is also imperative.

- Salary range: $70,452 - $82,885 per annum pro rata
Hours of Work
The normal hours of work are 16 hours per week as follows:
- Wednesday, 4.45pm-8.15pm
- Thursday, 4.45pm-8.15pm
- Friday, 4.45pm-8.15pm
- Saturday 10.30am - 4.30pm
