About the Role
We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join the Protection team as a Manager Communicable Disease Operations. The purpose of this role is to oversee the delivery of a work programme that provides high quality and timely operational support to communicable disease functions and the management of responses to all hazard all threats to enable the delivery of NPHS (National Public Health Service) strategic agenda working toward Pae Ora (Healthy Futures).
About the Team/Service/ Location
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
You have a working knowledge of communicable disease operations, particularly as they relate to contact tracing and testing. You are experienced in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and deliver a demanding work programme. You have experience in developing and implementing activities for improving public health and health protection and are able to identify business / project requirements, develop or contribute to strategies and plans, and prioritise the work of a team. You are an experienced people leader and able to tailor your approach to lead subject matter experts and a range of experienced team members.
- A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience
- Extensive specialised experience normally gained through professional qualifications and significant post graduate experience
- Experience of developing high quality technical and specialist advice in a public health context
- Experience in planning and delivering a work programme that involves a range of stakeholders (including SMEs, commissioners and health care providers)
- Demonstrates mature communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and present in a clear, persuasive, and impactful way, to influence others to embrace change, and to develop, unify and maintain effective internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomes
- Able to quickly assimilate new information, and to write and talk about complex issues clearly and concisely with a range of audiences
- You're able to maximise the quality and contributions of individuals and teams to achieve the organisation's vision, purpose, and goals
- With the support of Health NZ, you will proactively take care of your own health and safety, to ensure a safe and supportive work environment
