- Wairoa Health Centre, Mental Health & Addictions
- Permanent, Full-time 80 hours per fortnight (1 FTE)
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.
About the Role
Wairoa Community Mental Health & Addiction Service (CMH&A) is a specialist provider for adults and their whanau who are most severely affected by mental illness and/or addiction. We are currently seeking a registered health professional with the passion, experience, and qualification for assisting tangata whaiora facing mental health and addiction challenges.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our service is based at Wairoa Health and operates Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 5.00pm.
We provide a wide range of services including assessment, diagnosis, consultation, rehabilitation, and treatment. Our goal is to support people in their recovery journey and help them maintain wellness from mental illness and addiction. After an initial assessment, we work with each Service User—and where appropriate, their whānau—to create a tailored recovery plan. These plans set clear goals for discharge, identify strategies for relapse prevention and wellness, and are reviewed regularly.
Service Users receive evidence-based information and a copy of their recovery plan, with written consent obtained for any treatment. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, support workers, and cultural support provided through Kaitakawaenga and Po Whirinaki Māori.
Wairoa is a rural town, set against a backdrop of natural beauty that rivals any in New Zealand. Its location is central to both Hawke's Bay and Gisborne. With stunning beaches, rivers, lakes and farmland surrounding the township. For more information check the Wairoa iSite by clicking HERE to get a feel for what Wairoa has to offer.
