Job Description
Our Macraes Underground team are on the hunt for a Mine Control Operator. This role is responsible for facilitating safe and efficient mining at Macraes Underground through operation of the mines Control Room. This entails creating rolling shift plans in collaboration with the supervision team, timely and accurate data collection, and the ability to provide key information and communications in the event of emergencies on site.
This a 7 days on / 7 off / 7 nights on / 7 off roster
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Working with the shift supervisors to produce rolling 36-hour shift plans on proprietary software
- Collect mine production data during the shift via radio calls and automated data collection
- Monitor safety systems and mine infrastructure status
- Provide initial incident response communication for mine incidents
- Facilitate information transfer during the shift between operators and supervisors
- Provide area control and personnel monitoring
- Provide dispatch guidance during the shift
- Track asset locations during the shift
- Notify mechanical and electrical maintenance personnel of machine status
- Maintaining key materials stock levels via registers and alerting to low levels
- Maintain training records and documents
- Create various reports for performance during the shift
Qualifications
- Full and Current Driver Licence, with the ability to drive manual vehicles
- No issues with working in an underground mine.
Experience:
- Experience working in the Macraes underground is preferred
- Strong and confident communication skills to work effectively within a team
- Ability to communicate clearly over a radio system
- Ability to multitask and prioritize is highly desirable
- Strong documentation and computer skills
- A simple and proactive approach to problem solving
