About the Role

The Child Development team at Whangarei Hospital is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our team and provide services to our tamariki and whānau in Te Tai Tokerau / Northland. This role is a part time role, working 36 hours per week between Monday – Friday.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Based at the Whangarei Hospital Campus, and part of the Child Development Service our team provide Occupational Therapy Services as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support children and whānau to achieve their life goals and aspirations. This includes providing therapy, equipment and housing solutions. You will work with the whānau in the community (home based visits), and onsite clinics throughout Northland.

You will also be a part of including early intervention services in schools and preschools as part of the team.

About you

As an Occupational Therapist, you will need to hold Current Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand (OTBNZ). Previous experience in Paediatrics and/or neurological rehabilitation is highly desirable.

  • Ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team and establish and maintain working relationships between staff and clients
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
