Position Summary
Dispenses prescription medications in patient-centered pharmacy.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
- Dispenses prescription medications, measures and counts medication into appropriate
- Labels prescriptions and applies appropriate warning
- Verifies prescriptions and refills with physicians by phone and selects substitutions when necessary
- Obtains patient medical history and maintains confidential computer records
- Checks prescriptions and over the counter medications for drug interactions
- Counsels customers on proper medication. Provides prompt and courteous customer service. Answers customer questions about over-the-counter medication and product location. Addresses other customer concerns including insurance issues. Preserves customer confidentiality
- Assists in perpetual inventory of Controlled Drugs. Participates in twice yearly inventory of Department 92 and meets proper department production, record keeping, and product storage procedures and standards.
- Follows safety and security procedures
- Assists with counter duties as necessary
- Delivers immunisations
- Approves and submits orders for equipment and Orders product using computer system. Coordinates proper maintenance and repairs for equipment
- May be required to act as Pharmacist-in-Charge during part of shift, when Pharmacy Manager is not present: Acts as point of contact for regulatory, legal, third party insurance companies, and audit situations; monitors pharmacy to ensure complete legal compliance; supervises Pharmacy Technicians and clinicians
- Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials
- Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned

Required:
- Pharmacist with current APC with no restrictions
- Valid right to work documentation for New Zealand
- Bachelor of Pharmacy
- Hazard Communication and JHA (initial assignment), Professionals HIPAA Training (within 30 days), Costco Hazardous Materials DOT Training Course: Part 1 (within 30 days and then every year), Hazmat Universal Waste Training- Short Version (within 30 days and then every year), Option STOP Training (within 30 days), MethGuard (within 30 days)
- Computer, math, and customer service skills

Hazardous Waste Duties as defined in the Costco Pharmacy Unsaleable Product - Hazardous Waste Protocol.
Ensures proper cleanup, storage and management of hazardous materials taken in as returns or accidentally spilled. Responsible for managing expired un-salable pharmaceuticals as per protocol referenced
