With a significant kakapo breeding season predicted for 2026, this is an exciting opportunity to help support the management of this critically endangered species. Join the talented kakapo/takahe team as we work together to make the most of this opportunity to grow the kakapo population and secure a more positive future for these iconic birds.

You could support our highly dedicated team to achieve their ambitious workplan to deliver a successful kakapo breeding season. This is a busy role which requires someone with excellent organisation skills that enjoys working with people. Your role will involve working with the Logistics Ranger and the wider team to deliver logistics support to field teams on local offshore islands.

The position will be focussed on:

  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of island flights and site resupply trips
  • Conducting biosecurity checks of staff, volunteers, and visitors during pre-flight quarantine
  • Arranging purchase, collection, and storage of equipment and groceries for the team
  • Providing logistical support to the team for the movement of kakapo on and off islands.

With your excellent communication skills, you will have the ability to build relationships with key external stakeholders, volunteers and teams dispersed throughout the islands.

If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:

  • A current Full Driver's license, and able to drive both manual and automatic vehicles
  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to achieving team objectives
  • An ability to demonstrate proactive thinking, planning and organisation
  • A friendly, approachable attitude
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to turn your hand to a multitude of tasks
  • An interest in island biosecurity
  • A passion for conservation.

The salary range for this position is $58,816 to $66,578 (pro rata), with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
