About the role | Ko te mahi nei
Keeping the fun running smoothly is all in a day's work! Setting the vibe for awesome sessions, and making sure everyone's safe and supported — the Recreation Tutor is hands-on, on the floor, and always ready to jump in. The role also involves:
- Playing a key part in delivering fun, engaging, and safe activities for our youngest participants. This role focuses on running Tumbletimes sessions and Preschool Gymnastics classes, creating positive first experiences of movement and play.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities that build children's physical literacy, balance, coordination, and confidence in a supportive environment. With a focus on fun, discovery, and learning through play, you'll help children develop foundational skills while encouraging social interaction and parent/whānau involvement.
- Provide a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, ensure the safety of participants, and adapt sessions to meet different needs and abilities.
- Bring energy, creativity, and a passion for working with tamariki.

About you | Ko Koe Tēnei
Our ideal applicant will:
- Be passionate about working with tamariki.
- Have experience within a recreation environment as a tutor/caregiver.
- Be naturally engaging, a strong communicator, approachable and a great team player.
- Have strong attention to detail, effective time management and problem-solving skills.
- Hold a current Comprehensive First Aid Certificate Level 2
Available opportunities:
Option 1:
Fixed-term, part-time (12 months): The scheduled working hours are: Monday 12:45pm - 2:00pm, Wednesday 9:15am - 11:45am, Friday 8:45am - 12:15pm. This position is primarily based at Pioneer Recreation and Sports Centre, 75 Lyttelton Street, Somerfield.
Option 2:
Casual positions available: This role may require you to work between 8:30 am and 3:00 Please indicate your availability Monday to Friday in your application.

- Salary: Living wage $28.95 per hour
- Location: Any facility within our network, including Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre.
