Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are looking for a fulltime Respiratory Clinical Trial Associate for the Respiratory Research team, based at Greenlane Clinical Centre.

The clinical trial associate is responsible for the overall organisation, planning and implementation of research activities for assigned clinical trials. They are the liaison between clinical trial sponsors, clinical personnel and study participants and are responsible for ensuring the primary principles of Good Clinical Practice (protection of the participant and the attainment of valid and reproducible data) are adhered to at all times. The Clinical Trial Associate provides support services to clinicians involved in direct patient care during research trials, facilitating smooth trial operations and data integrity. The position is patient facing and will involve clinical assessment guided by the clinical study protocol and as delegated by the principal investigator.

The clinical trial associate will:

  • Be responsible for recruitment, consent (as delegated) and protocol delivery for research projects.
  • Be responsible for conducting data collection and data entry, for identified research projects in consultation with medical and research staff as appropriate.
  • Act as an educational resource for patients and relatives regarding the conduct of research
  • Ensure adherence to and knowledge of International Conference of Harmonisation (ICH) and New Zealand Good Clinical Practice (NZ GCP) guidelines when undertaking clinical trials, as well as any relevant guidelines relevant to observational research practice.
  • Provide assistance to the Respiratory Research team with clinical trial activities, in particular to specific assigned studies ensuring Te Toka Tumai’s research policies and guidelines are adhered to.
  • The Clinical Trial Associate, as directed by the Clinical Research Team Leader and/or Principal Investigators, is involved in the delivery of clinical trial interventions or procedures related to the research being undertaken.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

In this role, you will be interacting effectively with clinical trial participants, their families and the multidisciplinary team while demonstrating a professional and proactive approach to all interactions.

  • 2+ years of clinical and research experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant clinical experience
  • Good organisations skills and be able to work autonomously, as well as part of the team.
  • High proactivity in your approach to reaching the required targets
  • Commitment to Quality Service delivery
  • Post graduate qualification is desirable
  • Being a Registered Health Professional is an advantage
