About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Advisor – Health and Safety to champion a robust, forward-looking health and safety culture across the CAA. Based in Auckland, you will lead key initiatives that ensure legislative compliance while actively developing and enhancing systems that support the wellbeing and safety of our people.
This is a high-impact, strategic role where your expertise will directly influence leadership capability, risk management practices, and organisational culture. You will collaborate closely with leaders and teams across the organisation and play a vital role in guiding health and safety strategy, delivery, and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do
- Provide strategic, evidence-based advice on all aspects of health and safety.
- Lead the development and implementation of health and safety frameworks, policies, and initiatives.
- Support and coach leaders to meet their H&S responsibilities with capability, confidence and clarity.
- Build and sustain trusted, influential relationships across all levels of the CAA, proactively engaging, influencing and collaborating with stakeholders to build capability and embed a strong health and safety culture.
- Partner with leaders and the wider organisation to proactively manage identified critical risks, providing expert guidance to ensure effective controls, compliance, and a strong organisational risk culture.
- Oversee incident investigations, return-to-work plans, and complex case management.
- Use data, insights, and reporting to influence organisational decision-making and cultural change.
- Partner across People and Capability teams to ensure an integrated approach to wellbeing and safety.
- Facilitate workshops, training, and communications that engage and build capability at all levels.
The salary range for this role is between $115 536 to 141 751. The starting salary will be dependent on skills and experience, while also taking into account internal relativities.
What You Will Bring
- Tertiary or postgraduate qualification in health and safety or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in health and safety, including 2+ years in a senior advisory capacity.
- Deep understanding of NZ health and safety legislation, standards, and best practice.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels of an organisation.
- Experience designing or refining health and safety management systems in large or complex environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, and coaching skills.
- A full NZ driver’s licence is essential.
