About this role | Mo tenei turanga

We have a fantastic 12 month fixed term opportunity for a Senior Adviser, Learning Design to join the team. This is a pivotal role which supports the Lead and Principal Advisors in designing quality teaching and curriculum products and services, for those using Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, Te Whariki a Te Kohanga Reo, Te Whariki mo nga mokopuna o Aotearoa and specifically Te Ara Maori.

Acting as a trusted advisor you will review and provide ongoing guidance and support and continuous improvement on the development and delivery of learning design products and services to align with international best practice, adapted to meet the needs of our sector.

You will be specifically working on projects that support Rangaranga Reo a-Ta: structured approaches for panui and tuhituhi; and Pangarau: structured approaches for pangarau, inclusive of the Pangarau trial Years 7 - 8, development of resources to support wahanga ako, and Hapai Ako (Accelerative learning).

Key requirements of the role include:

  • Working closely with Lead Advisers to contribute to design and development of projects and initiatives while being aware of resulting impacts for our frontline staff and akonga.
  • A level of capability to support the delivery of quality products and services in collaboration with specialists across all learning areas of the curriculum.
  • Being an effective communicator with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively to colleagues and senior leadership.
  • Having a good understanding of the early learning and schooling education system.
  • Having a strong strategic mindset, able to understand Government priorities and expectations for project delivery.
  • Ability to contribute to design and development of projects and initiatives while being aware of resulting impacts for our frontline staff and akonga.
  • Be able to engage and build credible relationships quickly, and positively.

Salary range: $84,425 - $102,271 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Proven ability to collaborate and take the lead in supporting and developing relationships.
  • Confidence to apply your expertise to ensure that deadlines and timeframes are met in a credible and timely manner
  • The ability to build dynamic and conducive relationships and partnerships with diverse groups to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Have generalist curriculum knowledge, with a strength in one or other of te reo matatini or pangarau being an advantage.
  • Ability to work flexibly across the work area and an ever-changing environment.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

About our group and team | Matau ropu ake

The purpose of Te Poutahu is to lead the national curricula for Aotearoa New Zealand and associated systems and processes of assessment and aromatawai.

The Learning Design team maps teaching to Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, Te Whariki a Te Kohanga Reo, Te Whariki mo nga mokopuna o Aotearoa, specifically Te Ara Maori, to maximise learning for all students. For this, the team requires subject matter expertise across all areas of the national curricula, for those learning through te reo Maori, and in-depth understanding of research-informed best practice for teaching and learning.

This team designs, delivers, monitors and maintains quality teaching and curriculum-based products and services (including educator resources) for all areas and years of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, Te Whariki a te Kohanga Reo, and Te Whariki mo nga mokopuna o Aotearoa, specifically focusing on Te Ara Maori.
