The Bail Support Service seeks to help those who are remanded, or at risk of being remanded in custody, to apply for and maintain bail while making positive changes early in the justice system process. Support is provided to defendants and their whanau to address un-met social needs, across prison, court, and community settings. At sentencing, Bail Support Services provide information to the Court around the defendant's progress on bail to assist the Judge in making sentencing decisions.
As the Senior Bail Support Officer, you will guide practice in the Bail Support Service team. Additionally, you will assist the Lead Bail Support Officer with quality management activity and play a lead role in supporting the implementation of new or changed practice and procedures relating to Bail Support Services.
To complement this; you will have good cultural awareness for the varying demographics we work with here at Ara Poutama Aotearoa. You'll manage a caseload, with an emphasis on supporting the Bail Support Officers in your district and building a high performing team.

We're looking for an exceptional Senior Bail Support Officer to help develop the service from its beginnings in the region. This role will be in a fast-paced, dynamic and exciting environment. Bail Support Services is a team of people who are passionate about making a real difference for defendants and their whanau.
We would like to hear from you if demonstrate:
- A commitment and understanding of our strategy Hokai Rangi and our obligations regarding Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- An ability to work bi-culturally with iwi partners
- A good understanding of Bail Support Services and the expectation's required of its implementation in this role
- Proven competency and experience working with people in our care and management
- Knowledge and experience in identifying, empowering, and supporting people to achieve their goals relating to their needs
- Strengths in report writing
- Demonstrated effective skills and practice guidance
- Professional credibility and integrity
- A very good understanding of motivational interviewing, report writing skills and advanced communication skills
To be considered for this role, you must also have a current Full New Zealand Drivers Licence and hold the legal right to work in New Zealand, without restriction, for a minimum of 24 months.
Utu a-tau | Salary
The full range is $83,969 to $92,496. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
