The role of the Senior Baker is to assist in the day to day running of the bakery department. ensuring that a maximum range and sufficient range of high quality fresh baked products are available for sale at all times. This role will involve the preparation and production of bread as well as other bakery products. E.g., Muffins, Cakes, Pies, Pastries and more.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
- All round knowledge of baking standards and requirements.
- Had previous bakery experience within the retail environment. Scratch Baking in particular.
- Flexibility to work all days of the week, and available to be called in for extra shifts as required.
- To be physically fit, can lift up to 20kg of weight. E.g., Flour bags.
- Good verbal and written English skills.
- Early morning starts.
- Can work weekends.
- Minimum of 3 years practical experience working in a Bakery.
Daily Tasks of the Senior Baker include:
- Daily compliance and safety checks of equipment and machinery to ensure they are of an operational standard. As well as the operation of various machinery for molding dough and cutting biscuits.
- Checking quality of raw materials/ingredients and finished product.
- Kneading, maturing, cutting molding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry products.
- Monitoring oven/prover temperatures and product appearance to ensure accurate cooking times.
- coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of bread batches, rolls, and pastry goods.
- Glazing buns and pastries, as well as decorating cakes with cream and icing.
- Emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins, and other cooking equipment.
