He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Join our team as Senior Library Assistant Collection Advisory Services and play a key role in the management of library collections across the Auckland Libraries’ network. You’ll be a part of the daily operations at our Book Hotel facility and support the Collection Advisory Services team in the management of library collections and the delivery of library solutions in all formats. This role is central to supporting key regional projects and providing relevant, high quality library collections across Tamaki Makaurau.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team in the management of library collections within a secure storage facility. This essential warehouse-based role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including receiving and processing incoming library materials, accurate shelving according to established systems, fulfilling and dispatching both internal and external orders, and supporting the overall workflow of collection management.
The successful candidate will ensure efficient access to stored items and organization of valuable resources. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of logistics and library science, supporting the seamless delivery of information to users while maintaining the integrity of the collection.
This is a Monday – Friday, Permanent full-time x 40 hours role based primarily at the Book Hotel facility in Albany with regular rostered work at Auckland Central City Library

You’re a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with a passion for libraries and community service. You bring:
- Qualified to secondary school leaving (NCEA Level 2)
- 4+ years of experience in libraries, stock management, or related services
- Library collection management experience (preferred but not essential)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
- Confidence in using digital tools and a willingness to grow in a tech-enabled environment
- The ability to work unsupervised and in a physically active role
- A commitment to Te reo Māori and an understanding of its importance in service delivery
