We have a permanent full time position for an experienced Speech Language Therapist to join our Stroke Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a dynamic interdisciplinary team, leading the delivery of speech language therapy for stroke patients from acute through to rehabilitation using an integrated care approach. In this position, you will have the opportunity to provide our acute stroke population with a comprehensive speech language service including swallow assessments, communication evaluation and the development and implementation of an inpatient goal related plan with the patient and their families.

Ideally you will be able to work autonomously as well as part of an inter-disciplinary team. You will have a proactive attitude and thrive in a busy acute setting. You will have previous experience within a stroke pathway and be passionate about a patient-centred approach to care.

There is scope for service development and implementing projects to improve the care of your patients. Essential

  • Relevant Speech Language Therapy qualification and eligibility for NZSTA membership
  • A minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate experience within a similar health setting with experience with people with stroke.
  • Videofluoroscopy experience
  • Previous involvement with clinical and professional supervision/development of staff and students
  • FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing) experience
  • Full, current driver’s licence
