Te ahua o te turanga / about the role

This role involves producing print and online visual design services from concept through to final delivery for our programme.

As our Senior Visual Designer, you will bring your knowledge and experience in graphic design, illustration, styles and layout techniques to the table.

You will also provide top-tier advice and relevant services to our transformation programme. This ensures our communications meet their objectives, reach the intended audience, and adhere to channel requirements.

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in graphic design or substantial recent experience in providing professional design services.
  • A minimum of five years in the design/production industry, with a strong understanding of both Mac and PC operating environments, including proficiency with Microsoft, Adobe Creative Suite, and Procreate.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design, digital illustration, and various production environments, coupled with an understanding of production processes for visual communications across print, social media, and online platforms.
  • An ability to navigate New Zealand's publishing and accessibility requirements, including the New Zealand Government Web Standards, and apply MSD's plain language style guide.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of tikanga and te reo Maori, and an understanding of how organisational objectives translate into design.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating design/production projects across various content and digital channels, and working effectively with design, print, and production suppliers.
  • Strong project management skills, preferably in a medium to large organisation, complemented by excellent interpersonal, relationship management, and presentation abilities.
