Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic to become a vital part of our team. This role, after an initial familiarisation period working days involves working 12-hour shifts on a 4 on/4 off schedule (Day/Night rotation).
Key Responsibilities:
At Steelserv, you will service a wide array of heavy earth-moving equipment from various OEM suppliers. Each day brings new challenges, requiring a diverse skill set, innovative thinking, flexibility, and a proactive attitude. Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Engineer, your main duties will include the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles and associated equipment.
Requirements:
- Willingness to work shifts, including overtime and callouts as needed.
- High attention to detail and strong verbal communication skills.
- Technical aptitude and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a small team with minimal supervision.
- Uncompromising commitment to safety.
- Strong work ethic.
Qualifications and experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy earthmoving equipment maintenance is preferable.
- OEM training in Volvo or Caterpillar equipment is highly desirable.
- Strong automotive electrical skills.
- A solid diagnostics background in hydraulics is highly favourable.
- Suitable for tradespersons from mining and quarrying backgrounds.
- Relevant skills in similar trades will be considered.
