About the Role
We are looking for a motivated Specialist Intensivist to provide effective and high-quality care to the Northland community. The successful candidate will work in the Department of Intensive Care Medicine and will participate in teaching and training resident medical staff as well as be actively involved in the consultant on call roster for ICU.
The Intensive Care Unit is a modern nine bed department providing care for 525 patient admissions per year: with over 40% mechanically ventilated. We provide an ICU outreach service and hold an accreditation for training by the College of Intensive Care Medicine. Currently we have eight Intensivist's contributing to a 1:9 roster and 8 registrars and 1 SHO providing cover 24/7. Every day, we see a wide range of presentations including paediatrics and major trauma. We provide medical and nursing cover for our busy flight retrieval service in conjunction with Northern Rescue Helicopter limited (NRHL) – overseeing approximately 480 helicopter transfers per year.

About you
To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in an Intensive Care Medicine or associated Vocational scope of practice.
Ideally you will possess FCICM or an equivalent qualification; however, we are open to considering advanced trainees nearing completion of their training.
