About the Role

As a Speciality Clinical Nurse, you will work with a specified patient/turoro/tangata whai ora group providing assessment, nursing care, clinical interventions and education in a specific area of specialty practice. Your responsibilities will be to meet the needs of the service which include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting in-depth health assessments with patients and identifying their medical and social needs prior to their surgical date to enable safe, timely, patient-centred and equitable outcomes for patients who are referred to this service
  • Working closely with the Melanoma CNS, Skins CNS and cancer trackers for HSC referrals
  • Managing the waitlist for those requiring minor surgery and prioritising patients in consultation with the wider MDT including but not limited to Consultants, MOSS’s, Registrars, and the booking team.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our dedicated team of General Surgeons, specialist and registered nurses provide care to patients across Te Tai Tokerau. The General Surgery services delivers a wide range of elective and acute surgical care. This role is based in the outpatient setting and involves working collaboratively across hospital and community settings to support patients throughout their surgical journey.

About you

  • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) and holder of a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • A current Expert Registered Nurse Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) Portfolio
  • A personal commitment to ongoing learning and development including post-graduate education
  • Proficiency with specialty knowledge

Desired

  • Postgraduate certificate/diploma in specialty nursing practice
  • Experience in clinical teaching
  • Demonstrated experience in an equivalent clinical setting to which you are being employed into
