We are seeking mature, responsible, community minded people interested in gaining their Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate (PLPC) and supervising their local community pool this summer season. We operate pools in Eltham, Kaponga, Rāwhitiroa, Manaia, Pātea and Waverley. Our season begins 8 December 2025 and ends 9 March 2026. You will need to be available for the whole season.
The key responsibilities of the role are actively supervising swimmers and ensuring their safety, water testing and keeping the pool and facility clean. Your communication skills will be key to effectively running day to day pool operations alongside your coworkers.
You will need:
- To swim 200m in under 6 minutes
- To be able to retrieve an object from the deepest part of the pool and complete other water competencies
- A great attitude and customer service skills
Full training is provided. You need to be able to attend the first aid course and lifeguard training at the Hawera Aquatic Centre outlined on the dates below.

9am - 5pm daily
On completion of the First Aid Course and PLSA, you will need to undertake 20 hours inhouse poolside shadowing to complete the qualification and gain your Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate.
As part of the recruitment process you will be required to undertake a pre-employment police check and drug screening test.
