What does a Support Worker do?

You will be supporting clients with a range of everyday needs, guided by their individual care plan. Your tasks may include, but aren’t limited to, the following:


  • Personal Care and Daily Living Assistance
    : You will assist with transfers, personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation.

  • Medication:
    Medication Prompting and Mediation Administration

  • Household Tasks: You will perform housekeeping duties including bed making, laundry, drying the shower, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the client you support.

  • Shopping and Errands: You will assist with grocery shopping

  • Bowel Management and Catheter Management

You will also play an important role in helping clients with gentle, passive exercises that support their health and well-being.

Shifts are varied to provide consistent support and will include weekend work. The available shifts are:

  • 20 Hours per week:

    • Shifts from 6 am – 3 pm

    • 3 days midweek and 1 weekend day (Sunday)

  • 10-16 Hours per week:

    • Shifts from 6 am – 3 pm

    • 2 days midweek and 1 weekend day (Sunday)

During your first 6 weeks, your hours will progressively increase to meet your ideal hours specified above.

What We Are Looking For | Ā mātou e kimi nei

  • Minimum Level 2 in Health and Wellbeing qualification or its equivalent from another country is beneficial but
    not necessary.

  • Full NZ Driver's License

  • A reliable vehicle of your own

  • A valid and current Basic First Aid Certificate is required. If you do not have one, you must provide evidence of a confirmed booking before starting employment.

  • Candidates must be able to pass a Police Check or undergo vetting. To fast-track your application, simply request a copy of your recent Police Vetting Result from your current or past employer. This will help speed up your hiring process!
