About the role
This is a unique opportunity for an experience project/programme manager to support a region-wide vision that aims to reduce waste, and build a more sustainable future for our communities.
While your home base will be at Porirua City Council, you’ll be at the heart of regional collaboration, helping translate strategy into action across all councils in the wider Wellington region.
As part of a collaborative regional network, you’ll:
- Programme Manage the 2023-2026 Wellington Region Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP)
- Facilitate the implementation of regional waste initiatives and coordinated projects.
- Work closely with Project Leads across the region to ensure alignment and shared success.
- Support the Regional Waste Officers Steering Group to deliver key actions
- Manage all project dependencies and interdependencies
- Collate and prepare clear, insightful programme reporting, including risks, progress, and updates.
This is a fixed term role until August 2028.
About you:
We’re on the hunt for a proactive, organised, and values-driven programme manager to drive and deliver the Wellington Region’s 2023–26 WMMP and Regional Action Plan.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Have significant experience in programme/project management
- Are a skilled communicator with the ability to simplify complex issues
- Bring strong organisational and reporting skills – you can keep multiple projects on track and stakeholders informed.
- Have strong analytical expertise and know how to translate data into a key messages
- Have excellent communication skills with staff, project partners, and communities and an ability to effectively function in a leadership role for projects and teams
- have demonstrated skills in building strong effective relationships withing and across teams and organisations.
