About the Role - Korero mo te Turanga
As an Adviser within the Dairy, Poultry, Eggs, & Honey team, you will contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of requirements and guidelines for primary products and processing of those food items.
The key focus for this role is to contribute to the dairy work programme.
This key work areas includes:
- Assisting in the development of:
- food safety and suitability standards;
- risk management programmes or regulated control schemes;
- implementation tools
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of regulatory and non-regulatory programmes for the production, processing, and export of animal products.
- Providing technical advice on standards, programmes and tools.
- Contributing to food incidents related to animal products and other foods as required.
- Coordinating and planning stakeholder meetings, including scheduling, preparing and distributing meeting papers, documenting minutes and tracking actions.
About You - Mou
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with technical knowledge of food safety, particularly HACCP, and an understanding of animal and food processing practices.
Your experience will include:
- Knowledge of trade in animal products, food, and their regulatory requirements.
- An understanding and interest in the primary sector and its contribution to the New Zealand economy.
- Experience in food regulation (desirable).
- Understanding of the Animal Products Act 1999 and the Food Standards Code (desirable).
- Familiarity with New Zealand's regulatory systems and legislation associated with primary production and processing of animal products (desirable).
In addition to your technical knowledge and experience, you'll also be a confident verbal communicator with the ability to understand scientific processes and literature. You'll have well developed written communication, the ability to plan and organise, with strong attention to detail and time management.
About the Team - Mo to matou Ropu
The Dairy, Poultry, Eggs and Honey Team sits within the Food Risk Management directorate, plays a vital role in protecting New Zealand's food system.
This specialised team are responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining regulatory requirements and guidelines, as well as providing expert technical advice across their respective areas. The other team members are available to provide support and guidance, ensuring you're well-equipped to contribute effectively. Working closely with other teams across the directorate, we take a collaborative, science-based approach to food safety and risk management.
