Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an Official Information and Privacy Adviser in a mid to senior capacity, to join the Legal Services team in a permanent, full-time role based on-site in Wellington.
Key responsibilities:
- Process OIA and Privacy requests for the University in a timely and professional manner
- Assist with responding to regulatory investigations.
- Support system changes and process improvements.
- Actively participate in the organisation and maintain key relationships with staff and senior leaders.
- Provide advice and reporting on OIA and Privacy related matters to key senior leaders

You will:
- Be a self-motivated, client-focused individual who can take the initiative, provide excellent advice and manage a full workload within tight timeframes.
- Have the opportunity to own this space and establish key relationships within the sector.
- Be skilled in working with different personalities to source, collate, and distil large amounts of information.
- Be a fantastic communicator, with an ability to influence and deliver your advice clearly with integrity.

Key requirements:
- Experience in processing complex OIA and Privacy Act requests.
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of the Official Information Act 1982 and the Privacy Act 2020.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- An ability to take on and receive feedback, and drive with influence.
- An excellent work ethic and commitment to excellence.
- Attention to detail and outstanding relationship management skills.
- Proficient with using Adobe and Microsoft 365 platforms.
Experience or interest in the tertiary environment is desirable but not mandatory.
