We have a permanent opportunity for an Analyst Programmer to join Cards & Payments Domain in Technology.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
As an Analyst Programmer, you will be responsible for being agile and progressing the design, build and implementation of technology solutions to meet our business and customers’ needs. You will support and continually improve our systems, working with the business, technology and industry professionals to determine requirements and deliver what is needed.
We sat down with our Engineering Lead, and they let us know the following about the role.
What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?
The successful candidate will join a team in Cards and Payments domain and will be part of the team that:
- Monitor inbox and incident queue, investigate customer queries, collaborate to troubleshoot and look for ways to continually improve.
- Analyse, develop and optimise applications and systems that run on mainframe computers using COBOL, JCL and other programming languages.
- Working with various cloud services (e.g compute, databases, networking) to build and deploy applications while ensuring application performance.
- Provides Production Support including afterhours on-call for our systems to ensure they are continually available for our customers.
- Support the Product Owner to recognise opportunities for stakeholders to leverage from existing functionality and make recommendations to increase or improve the usability of our systems and processes.
What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?
We are a busy team with many opportunities, the ideal candidate will need to work on BAU incidents and request as well as compliance and upgrades.
The biggest rock for us now is the migration or our critical cards app from Mainframe to cloud.

What technical skills are required for this role?
We are looking for someone with experience working with IBM Mainframe Cobol CICS using Endevor & SOAPUI and has experience in Cards / Switching.
We are also looking for someone who has experience with Cloud and DevOps agile development tools like Bitbucket, GIT, Terraform, Ansible and Jenkins.
What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?
The ideal candidate would be a communicable person, who is open and authentic, quick learner and supportive team player. Also, a keen eye for spotting performance issues and the ability to not only solve these issues but look for ways to continually improve and learn from those issues.

Please note that the salary range for this position is Hay 15: $88,800 - $111,000.
