About the position
In this position you will be assisting in running and maintaining systems and infrastructure that are essential to the success of Earth Sciences New Zealand's Flagship science program in High Value Aquaculture.
The position is based at Earth Sciences New Zealand's Northland Aquaculture Centre (NAC) in Ruakaka, northern New Zealand. The NAC is New Zealand's principal aquaculture research facility and aquaculture industrial park, comprising eight hectares of coastal land with infrastructure that supports a wide and growing range of research and commercial initiatives including our Kingfish hatchery and new commercial scale Land based RAS Kingfish facility.
This position sits within the NIWA business unit of Earth Sciences New Zealand.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and maintenance activities, including site, plant and equipment maintenance, water quality monitoring and wastewater treatment.
- Working across a range of fish husbandry activities, including finfish, shellfish, and live feed production.
- Technical assistance, including system construction and modification to enable research and rearing of finfish, shellfish, and other marine species.
