We are looking for an experienced and motivated operations manager to join our Asphalt Plant team in Christchurch. In this role, you will be responsible for all asphalt plant operations, including liaison with customers to plan daily production, plant maintenance, ordering stock and leading a team of eight. This is a pivotal role where you will drive the productivity of our plant with the assistance of supervisors, whilst ensuring all work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standard.
In addition to the above you will:
- Champion health, safety, and environmental standards across all operations, ensuring best practice and compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, both internal and external.
- Drive continuous improvement in all areas.
- Manage financial processes including pricing, budgeting, supplier negotiation, and stock reconciliation.
- Under direction of the Industries Divisional Manager, aid in our long-term business strategy to ensure continued success.

We’re looking for someone with:
- Bachelor, Diploma or NZ Certificate in Engineering or minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Sound knowledge of all asphalt plant operations, including plant maintenance.
- Technical understand of asphalt products.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Experience managing and developing teams.
- Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced fluid environment.
- A proactive approach to Health and Safety - it’s our #1 priority!
- Good Interpersonal and communication skills.
