What Will You Do? | Ka aha koe?


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Providing clear, accurate technical advice to the public, builders, and developers
  • Actively contributing to continuous improvement and BCA accreditation
  • Supporting customer service and complaint resolution
  • Maintaining accurate records to meet legislative and audit requirements
  • Identify potential risks, issues, or non-compliances.
  • Review applications for building consents, PIMs, and certificates of acceptance.
  • Check for completeness, code compliance, and validity of alternative solutions or producer statements.
  • Provide building-related input to the Planning team on resource consents to support well-informed decision-making.
Who Are You? | Ko wai koe?

We are looking for someone with:
Essential:
  • 3+ years’ experience in building regulation or the construction industry
  • Sound knowledge of the Building Act 2004, NZ Building Code, and relevant legislation
  • Excellent time management, computer, and communication skills
  • Confident working both independently and in a team environment
  • Current NZ Driver's Licence
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning
Desirable:
  • NZ Certificate Level 4 in Building Regulatory Environment
  • Progress toward NZ Diploma in Building Control Surveying, Construction, or a trade qualification
  • Residential & Commercial Competency under the National Competency Framework
  • Previous experience in building control roles within local government or similar.
